On 13/3/40 at 2.30 p.m., I read and explained a charge of murder to defendant at Yaumati police station and I cautioned him. I was satisfied he understood both charge and caution.

My bunk is 2nd from the centre door marked x on Exhibit A. After deceased had picked up the broom, defendant ran out of the south door, and deceased ran as far as 5th bunk from west door.

He was I was afraid deceased would hit defendant with the broom.
